Cover the house in foam and padding. Bust out the professional-grade ear plugs. Give up the idea that your kid will ever learn to "play music." Because you are doomed. Your kid wants to play the drums.
Ok. Slow down. I understand that there are a lot of pre-conceived notions about playing the drums. I won't try and sugar-coat the volume thing, either.
But, you can take a sigh of relief for just a moment as I can promise you one thing. Learning to play the drums is every bit as good for your kid or teen (or even YOU as an adult student) as learning to play the piano. In fact, if you walk with me for a moment, I will try and make that very case to you.
Drums don't HAVE to be loud.
Yesterday I spoke with a mom who was calling about drum lessons. I could hear in her voice the concerns with cost but also the worry about having to go out and get a "full-scale" drum set. This could perhaps be one of the biggest barriers in the minds of parents who want to play drums themselves or their kids do. But not to worry! We can explain what a practice pad is and how we encourage drummers to start easy. For less than $50 you can buy a quality practice pad and a pair of drum sticks and play drums at home after DRUM LESSONS. Click here to see an example of a practice pad AND drums sticks available for purchase online. You can also browse a wide selection of these items at many music retailers nearby.
We have the kits here.
But what if my kid wants to try to play a full drum set while we wait and see if he/she is really "into it?" We've got you covered. Here at LITTLETON SCHOOL OF MUSIC we have EIGHT drum kits that we use in our DRUM LESSONS. Depending on the day, we have adult and kid students playing in rooms with (2) drum kits so they can play with their instructor side-by-side. Also, we have rooms set up with the full band experience including guitar amps, keyboards, microphones, and more. Come in for lessons and we promise you even if just your kid wants to play drums, you can bang a bit, too!
Earplugs are a staple item here as well.
We want you and your kid to be able to enjoy hearing music for decades to come. That's why we insist on keeping a steady supply of FREE ear plugs here for every student and teacher. But how will I hear my drums with ear plugs in? Not to worry! You can still hear the drums very nicely without the damaging effects of loud volume. Also, we provide them for you and your kid to take home with you. So you can rest easy, we have your ears in mind too.
Drums are good for the brain.
PIANO LESSONS are very popular here and for good reason. But so are DRUM LESSONS! In fact, we are proud to be the #1 spot for learning to play the drums with a great staff, many kits, and tons of space to stretch out. But that's not all.
Scientific studies have proven year after year that Music Lessons are so good for your kid's brain. They help with test scores, memory, and confidence. And there is no distinction between piano and drums here. Students who learn to play the drums are also learning to read music, understand rhythm, grasp high levels of coordination, and...let's not forget...LOOKING SO COOL while doing it.
So please give us a call if you have more questions. We understand if you are hesitant to jump into the deep end with drums. But if you are also a parent who can't wait to hear the ROCK...give us a shout. We look forward to hearing from you.
And don't worry about foaming up the house just yet.
